Happy New Year!

Our new year was not very eventful this year.   I decided since we weren't busy at work to take off on New Year's Eve and have a little outpatient surgery.  This procedure led to a rip roaring good time for me and Brad that evening!  I slept pretty much all day, including the almost 3 hours it took me to come out of anesthesia compared to everyone else's 1!  What can I say?  Anesthesia is the only thing that helps me get good zzzz's. Brad was quite perturbed and ready to go by the time I finally woke up.  We made it home in one piece, and I konked out on the couch for a few more hours.  We had Chick-fil-A for "lupper," and then slept some more.  Ryleigh Jane stayed the night at my parents' house and face timed me about 10 and sang "Baby you're a firework" while shaking her booty and a sparkler.  That was about the extent of it!  Oh yeah, and let's not forget about the 2 terrible football games I watched MS State and Ole Miss lose that day, maybe that was the next day!  It all ran together.  In retrospect, it did give me a little down time to think about everything Brad and I went through last year with our jobs. We both completely changed our career paths, and man was it for the better on both ends!  All I can say about 2014 is I'm so glad God is in control and knows what I need better than I do!  Happy New Year, and here's to 2015!

On to better topics… Ryleigh Jane!  I thought it may be time for a little update!  She has truly turned into a silly little kid that is beautiful inside and out.  She truly cares about other people and animals.  She is a cautious child that is a little too smart and too serious for her own good at the ripe old age of almost 6.  She can remember the most obscure details from the most mundane of days, which really keeps me on my toes.  She is doing so well in dance and tumbling that my heart almost explodes every time she comes home to show me what new tricks she has learned.  She has a heart for Jesus and above all else that makes me the happiest because I pray all the time that she will want to seek him and know him all of her days on this earth.  Here is a list of some of the cute words that she says in her own way:

*Penny shoes (tennis shoes)
*Stuth (stuff)
*hell phones (cell phones)
*A stunk (skunk)
*Patterin (pattern)
*P-cuter (computer)
*Fableous (fabulous)
*Backets (baskets)
*Pa-corn (popcorn)
*Hotten candy (cotton candy)
*Majamas (pajamas)
*Jumpoline (trampoline)
*Ambleance (ambulance)

She weighs about 38 lbs and is about 43 inches tall.  She wears mostly 5T clothes, but some 4 and 3T depending on the brand.  She wears a size 10.5-11 narrow shoes.  She can read simple sentences, tie her shoes, do simple math, and organize her toys like nobody's business.  She also takes a shower by herself (I do smell tests, supervise every other shower, and give her a good scrub down when she needs it) because she doesn't like sitting in dirty water or hair floating in the bath water.  She has mastered cartwheels, heel stretches, splits, and now a standing back bend.  She wants a little sister so badly and tells me how gross boys are on a daily basis!

Two cute Christmas stories-
1- She told me one afternoon in the car just randomly that she would only take one present on Christmas if we could use the rest of the money to buy presents for kids without any… Talk about melting your heart!
2- She opened a gift from me that was Jesus Calling for Kids, a devotion book.  She asked me what it was, and I told her a book that teaches her about Jesus.  She hugged it to her chest and said that she was going to keep it forever and ever because it was such a special gift.

Random cuteness-
1- She asked me what my hell phone looked like when I was a little girl!  The shock on her face was priceless when I told her we didn't have hell phones!
2- One night she looked at me dead serious and said, "Mama, I feel like I am about to die just like Granny."
3- She also asked Maw Maw what it was like living in the 80's and asked me if Tv's were gray when I was a little girl.
4- A couple days after my procedure she wanted me to pick her up, which was a no no for 2 weeks.  She looked me straight in the face and said, "Mama, I can't wait until it gets back to like the good old days."  She needed some mama loving in a bad way!

I will have a few more stats and updates on her  (6th!!!) birthday in about a week and a half.  She is pretty darn special to us!  We love her more than words can express, and we are enjoying every minute of her growing up!

One more random fact, she can put away a lot of Krispy Kreme donuts in one sitting!  This girl loves Chocolate Sprinkle Donuts :)
